THE GREATEST MYSTERY
If you’ve watched programs like History’s Mysteries then you know how compelling a good mystery narrative can be to your mind and emotions. Everybody loves them whether they’re about science, politics, disappearances, deaths, natural phenomena, or ancient civilizations. People are intrigued by the hidden or the unknown.
However they’re described- puzzling, bizarre, dark, or unfathomable-mysteries capture our curiosity. Often our human nature turns them into an obsession. Unless we use self-control to reign in our desire for these elusive enigmas then we may suffer exhaustion and disillusionment. Why?
Simply because of the vast amount of mysteries that exist and the time and energy involved in pursuing a mostly fruitless endeavor. Yes, it would be great to know who killed John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Hoffa, or Jon Benet` Ramsey. But it’s not likely you’ll ever solve these crimes or discover all the secrets of the Great Pyramids. Not to mention the hidden agenda of Area 51.(And the list goes on) Though more information has been discovered about these mysteries-do we know what's really true or false.
Of course, if you solved such mysteries then you’d be considered a great detective or investigator. You might have your 15 minutes of fame but then what? Instead of searching for answers in the past or fearing the present, your quest should be directed toward a glorious future. The Bible is a book filled with transcendent truth that is meant to be found by those who “search for Him with all their hearts”.
MYSTERY OF THE KINGDOM
He reveals Himself to his true disciples. Not to half-hearted hopefuls or spectators. Mark 4:9-12 King James Version (KJV) -9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable. 11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: 12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
AN AMBASSADOR IN BONDS-MAKING KNOWN MYSTERY OF THE GOSPEL
Ephesians 6:18-20 (KJV)- 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE MYSTERY
Ephesians 3:8-12 (KJV)- 8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; 9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: 12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
THE RICHES OF THE MYSTERY
Colossians 1:25-2 (KJV)-25 I have become(the gospel's) its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness— 26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. 27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. I Timothy 3:16
